Out of our six finalists for the 2022 Innovation Challenge three shone above the others.
So winning £15,000, 6 hours of mentoring and a trophy was Gemma from Scoff Paper. Gemma wouldn’t mind us telling you that she is to dogs what Moonpig is to humans. You can already buy her cards in pet stores, Clintons Cards and places such as B&M, but she is now looking to get online as well, so you don’t have to leave your home to order your dog his special card. Did we also mention that they are edible so your mutt can eat them. She has also thought about it and has pens you can write the card with that are also safe for your dogs to eat.
Our second place winner and taking home £10,000, 6 hours of mentoring and a trophy was Susanna from Brilliant Trees Media. At the moment, all we can mention about this innovation is that its aimed at helping children express emotions and handle their mental wellbeing. Its a case of watch this space and soon we hope to be able to let you know more details.
Our third winner was Conor from Reel Help – taking home £5,000, 6 hours of mentoring and a trophy.
Again until he has IP in place we can’t say too much as we don’t want to jeopardise his invention, but its something for the electricians out there and also aids waste as well. I don’t think Conor will mind mentioning that this is out of his comfort zone and something he is pushing himself to go with, and you can feel and see the confidence already growing.
All of the entries to the Innovation Challenge, we are keeping an eye on, and hope to offer everyone further support via funded programs or workshops.
The event itself was very successful with both an in person audience and online audience as well with high numbers attending.
We had Aaron Willis as our host, and he managed to keep us entertained with stories about The Apprentice whilst our finalists set themselves up with equipment to pitch to our judges. He was impressed by the standard and would hope to continue involvement in all entries.
We have a lovely video outlining briefly what happened on the day and hope to share it soon with you on our YouTube channel.
