Now in its fourth year, TeenTech Lancashire has announced details of its 2024 edition.
Hosted at the University of Central Lancashire on Thursday June 20th, it will again bring students from across the county together for an exciting, interactive programme which helps young people understand the range of career opportunities offered by digital, science and technology pathways.
Last year’s event, which was hailed as a great success, saw over 170 Year 8 and 9 pupils from schools across Lancashire take part in an immersive day of workshops with leading employers from across the science, cyber and technology and engineering industries.
Major companies involved included Oracle, BAE System, Microsoft, AWS, the National Cyber Force, and Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, alongside local businesses such as Nybble, Citation Cyber, Alcidion, Roq, and Care Surgical.
Commenting on last year’s event, TeenTech CEO and co-founder, Maggie Philbin OBE, said: “It was brilliant to see how engaged the region’s employers were in bringing careers to life for young people across Lancashire. Our events aim to change minds and celebrate all things creative in digital, cyber security, science, technology, construction and engineering, and the Lancashire festival was a true example of this.”
This year’s festival, which is supported by the Lancashire Digital Skills Partnership (LDSP), The Lancashire Careers Hub, the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), FutureU, and Network Rail, is set to be even bigger. With a theme of Innovation, AI and Cyber, it aims to engage and inspire the next generation in all areas of contemporary industry, showcasing the importance of digital, scientific and engineering skills across the region.
Over 300 students from 30 secondary schools are due to attend, as are industry ambassadors from a wide range of local companies and universities. If your business or organisation would like to get involved, please contact sally.dixon@teentech.com
