Crozier Campers, a Lancashire manufacturer which converts commercial vehicles into campervans, has seen accelerated growth following a major investment in new technology.
Following a £20,000 grant from Made Smarter, the government backed support scheme for manufacturers, the Poulton-le-Fylde company was able to bring advanced CNC manufacturing processes in-house.
This helped significantly reduce build times, boosted overall productivity, and freed up staff to focus on other areas of the business including sales and marketing.
Embedding more automation and advanced digital systems into the production line also increased Crozier’s R&D capacity. It is now able to prototype fresh ideas, undertake more bespoke projects, and diversify into new areas such as making components.
The investment has further helped the company to establish an official partnership with Mercedes Benz. This allows Crozier to transform Mercede’s popular Sprinter vehicles into prestige, customised campervans.
This mix of innovation-led production efficiencies, redeployment of staff, increased business development activities, and higher value contracts, means the company is now forecast to grow by 25% over the next three years.
Founder Conor Crozier said: “The nature of our business means we have to ensure we are constantly evolving and innovating to remain at the top of our sector. This project will significantly reduce our build time schedules, and allow us to produce units to an improved timescale. This allows us to have a far greater control over our production line and reduce the risk for us as a business.”
Launched in 2020, Crozier Campers products range from converted day-vans, such as Volkswagen Transporters, to self-contained micro homes housed in minibuses.
