Innovate Lancashire has confirmed it will be taking part in the inaugural UK Tech Week, a new national initiative which aims to shine a spotlight on the tech innovation, expertise, and talent that exists across the country.

It will commence with a launch event on Monday 22nd April, followed by a three-day collaborative celebration of tech featuring special events and festivals running between 23rd and 25th April 2024. UK Tech Week will provide a high profile platform to promote these events to a national audience and will further help to signpost ongoing partner activities.

UK Tech Week said: “By connecting regional tech communities, UK Tech Week has tremendous potential for expanding the visibility of the UK’s dynamic tech landscape. More than just a week in April, it’s also a commitment to fostering an ongoing dialogue within the nation’s tech community. We’ll keep the tech conversation going all year, spotlighting both regional and national tech events, nurturing collaboration across the UK’s thriving tech sector.”

Rory Southworth, Innovation Ecosystem Manager at Innovate Lancashire, said: “I’m proud that the Fraser House hub will be hosting an event as part of the inaugural UK Tech Week. We will use the opportunity to highlight some of the incredible tech businesses which are based here in Lancashire, and showcase the county’s strengths in key sectors such as cyber, electech, clean energy and future flight.

“But Fraser House is just one part of Lancashire’s thriving tech ecosystem, and through our Innovation Plan we are bringing employers, entrepreneurs, universities, skills providers and local authorities together to help us drive more innovation-led growth.

“With major new projects on the horizon, including the National Cyber Force HQ, Eden Project Morecambe, the Samlesbury Innovation Hub, and Blackpool’s Silicon Sands initiative, it’s an exciting time for Lancashire. We’re therefore greatly looking forward to being part of UK Tech Week so we can share with the UK’s wider tech community what’s happening here.”
